A Gluten Free Pizza Recipe That The Whole Family Can Enjoy

A few years ago it would have been crazy to consider making a gluten free pizza. Folks with gluten allergies simply had to eat a salad while their friends and family ate yummy pizza all around them. Now it’s quick and easy to make delicious gluten free pizza right at home.

When we mix a gluten free pizza crust recipe with a gluten free baked bread recipe, we get a delicious flour blend. This blend is crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside.

This flour blend recipe calls for more water than some other recipes and there are differences in the baking (this one must be parbaked). However, even though this recipe takes more time and is a little harder to work with, you will be able to have delicious gluten free pizza.

Ingredients

You will need 3 cups of gluten free bread flour, 4.25 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 cup of lukewarm water.

If you want to use the gluten free flour instead of the gluten free bread flour, make the following changes to the recipe: 1.25 cups plus 3 tablespoons lukewarm water instead of 1 cup. You will need to refer to the box of instructions for the handling method, which is also different.

Instructions

To make the dough: attach a bread hook to your mixer and add together the flour blend, baking powder and salt. Combine well. Next, add in the honey, olive oil and water. Mix this at a medium speed for 5 minutes. The gluten free dough should turn into a sticky, stretchy ball.

Put the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Put this creation in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. Then, divide and shape the gluten free pizza dough into two balls. Cover one with a moist towel while you work on the other ball of pizza dough. Roll the ball out onto a flat surface using a floured rolling pin. Then, place the rolled out dough on parchment paper and do the same with the other pizza ball. Place both flats on a pizza stone into a preheated 375 degree oven.

Lastly, remove the partially baked crust, add sauce, cheese and toppings and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Allow the gluten free pizza to rest for a few moments before slicing.
