Arzar’s Diary Summer Entry
Friday, September 1st, 2023

Dear Diary,
I’ve been spending my summer in Amarillo, Texas, and let me tell you, it is hot! Since my time on earth is devoted to the fantastic Pizza Planet, I am excited to explore this new place and introduce the locals to our delicious pizza.
I first noticed the vast open space when I arrived here. On my home planet, everything is compact and crowded, so this is a nice change of scenery. The people here are also friendly, always greeting me with a smile and asking for a photo with me. I’m really starting to like it here.
I spent most days exploring the city, checking out the shops, and trying local cuisine. I came across a place called The Big Texan Steak Ranch, and let me tell you, their steaks are ginormous. I also tried some local Tex-Mex food, which was spicy but delicious. I’m excited to try more local dishes during my stay here.
In the evening, I headed to Pizza Planet on Bell here in Amarillo to catch up with my coworkers. They were all very welcoming, and we spent the night preparing for the busy summer ahead. I’m excited to work with them and make some new friends. They seem to be experts in making dairy cheese so melty, yet not burnt.
The next day, I decided to take a break from work and visit the Palo Duro Canyon State Park. It was breathtaking! The red rock formations and vast canyons were unlike anything I’d ever seen before. I even met some fellow aliens who were also visiting the park. We exchanged stories and experiences from our home planets.
After a long day of hiking and exploring, I returned to the city for dinner. I pondered trying a local pizzeria, but nobody does it like Pizza Planet! A Chef salad, ham and cheese subs, buffalo wings, customizable pizza, mouth-watering Peanut Butter Chocolate Sticks? I decided it was best to stick to the out-of-this-world food I had become accustomed to.
As the days passed, I started getting used to the heat and the Texan lifestyle. I even learned how to two-step at a local dance hall. The people here are so welcoming and willing to teach me new things.
One thing that surprised me was the amount of patriotism displayed here in Amarillo. I saw American flags everywhere and even attended a Fourth of July parade. Seeing people proud of their country and celebrating their independence is refreshing.
As my summer in Amarillo comes to an end, I can’t help but feel grateful for this experience. I’ve made new friends, tried new foods, and explored new places. I’ll definitely miss this place, but I’m excited to take what I’ve learned here back to my own planet and share it with others.
Until next time, Diary.
Sincerely,
Arzar
